19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player won his first trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court from March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at 21 distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to question if his capacity to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with Moutet unable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
